WESTERN SERIES REVIEW PART 1

Hello!

I love to watch some western series mostly by Netflix! incase you need a short review or a recommendation then this post is for you~

I'll make few parts of this post because I don't really want it to be such a long one.

*disclaimer: my rates based on my compatibility with the genre, acting wise, plot, set, character development or any other reason. So I advise you to take it with a grain of salt.

1. The Umbrella Academy (2019 - )

Rate : 8/10 (1st season) ; 9/10 (2nd season)

- Contain of two seasons with 20 episodes

- Genre : superhero, time travel, sci-fi, fantasy, dark comedy

- Synopsis : A dysfunctional family of seven that fallen apart since the death of a boy. Somehow they need to reunite and protect the world from apocalypse just to wake up in a different timeline.

What's good :

1. Each character development is super good. Their bond as "weird" family become stronger in the 2nd season

2. The punchline! Lmao the jokes really hits right in your ass

3. The freaking soundtracks!!!

4. Plot twist at 2nd season finale! It takes you by surprises & it doesn't stop once it hits you. The season finale would make you question lot of things

5. A love line that should be forbidden would be done in S02

6. It has a good & strong message about POC movement & LGBTQ+ existence

What's bad :

1. Ben & Elliot deserve so much better

2. Lack of coverage on The Handler's discovery about another gifted child

3. LEFT US WITH MANY QUESTIONS!!!!

*Good thing is they renew for another season!

2. The Witcher (2019 - )

Rate : 9/10

- Consist of 8 episodes
- Genre : fantasy, drama, action
- Synopsis : Geralt of Rivia, a mutant called witcher go on a journey lead by destiny

What's good :
1. You ain't gonna realize there is more than one timeline that will merge, it just slap you in the face! I mean it's a brilliant idea and how seamless they are.
2. Set on fictional medieval ages and show some varieties landscapes from snowy to dunes
3. Each character development is good af especially those three (in the poster)
4. Those magic essentials if you love magic or witchy things
5. The fighting/action sequences!!!! Definitely chef's kiss
6. The opening song really build up your expectation before watch the shit about to go down

What's bad :
1. There's a lot of blood and gore
2. Pretty much skin exposing here and there, if you're under 19 or uncomfortable with it then I advise you to skip those parts (because it's not that explicit)
3. The monsters could do so much grosser than that

*This series really is a hell of a ride but it will pay off in the season finale as you sigh in relief BUT CAN'T WAIT THE NEXT SEASON AT THE SAME TIME! Good thing is they renew for 2nd season!

3. Locke and Key (2020 - )
Rate : 7.5 / 10
- Contain of 10 episodes
- Genre : supernatural horror & drama
- Synopsis : When Rendell Locke murdered, his whole family decided to move to Key House where Rendell grew up but none of his past were told to his family. They need to figure it out in their own and some serious shit was going down in that house.

What's good :
1. The plot twist! But not that great
2. The storyline kinda unique because it's a fantasy series with a slight taste of horror
3. The monsters ain't scary and it only appears around 10-15 minutes? It's a good thing for someone who easily scared like me lol
4. There's this one particular character that captures my eyes, it's Bode! The way they portray him is good, like he's not your regular type of children whereas a lot of them tend to be annoying brat. But no, Bode's character is wise and mature kid even more than his older siblings
5. Cinematic view wise, it's great especially when they used the head key!

What's bad :
1. The pace of the story a little bit slow until 6th episode, so sometimes it bores me to death. All of the fun and thrill started at 7th sadly it doesn't last long because it only has 10 episodes!!!What a boomer
2. They didn't really explore each key that much. When the keys could be much more than that
3. THE BANTERING BETWEEN KINSEY AND TYLER (sibling) really puts me off. Like they keep shutting each other off, but then again I don't have a sibling so I wonder maybe it's normal they keep going back and forth with e/o
4. The twist at season finale don't have that much impact on me because I've seen it coming
5. The origin of the key house should be explained more because how does it become Locke's possession? how the keys are made of? what kind of demon that goes through the black door? So much thing that could be told instead of meh teens drama

*But then again I hope all of my questions would be answered in the next season as they renewed until 3rd season! I genuinely wish they would improve their script and plot~

Since it's getting long I'll continue my review about other series in the next part ok^^ See you~
